CAMPUSbike am KIT (bike rental subscription currently Nextbike)

Information (contract 2024-2027)

We have concluded a contract with nextbike for a bike rental subscription for all of us. This runs until the end of March 2027.

The current subscription costs €2.50 per student per semester. From the winter semester 2025/2026 €2.70. This fee is automatically paid by all students with the semester fee.

How to use the subscription?

  1. First you have to register (you can find the explanation in the attachment). You must use your .....@student.kit.edu-Adresse for authentication.
  2. You will then receive an email in which you have to click on a link. If you do not do this, the subscription will not work.
  3. The booking is made via app (nextbike, KVV.mobil? etc.), via a nextbike terminal or via the hotline.

You do not have to enter any payment details as long as you do not have to pay anything.

What are the conditions?

  • You can use the bike free of charge for 30 minutes per ride. There must be at least 15 minutes between two journeys.
  • If you exceed the 30 minutes, you pay €0.50 per 30 minutes. You pay a maximum of €5.00 per day.
  • You can rent 2 bikes at the same time at this rate. If you rent 3 or more bikes, you pay the regular nextbike rate (currently 1 € per 30min and a maximum of 9 € per day).
  • The rate is valid throughout Germany (except Usedom, Bremen, Kiel, Munich and Nuremberg).

  • You already have an account?

Of course, an existing user account can be changed by nextbike customer service in the login area/user account.

If you already have a KVV.nextbike annual tariff or KIT annual tariff (KVV.nextbike), you must first CANCEL it and contact nextbike customer service regarding possible refunds.

For users in the basic tariff:
In the login area / user account: Select partner “CAMPUSbike - KIT”, enter university e-mail address under user settings and confirm university e-mail address via activation link (activation link will be sent by e-mail).
  • Have you already registered for the test phase?

All students who have already registered during the test phase should be automatically transferred to the new special tariff. If this does not work, you must contact Nextbike customer service. If you have incurred costs as a result, you will get your money back.
